HSIOIRS Cataract Training Days: The hands-on experience

The Hellenic Society of Intraocular Implant and Refractive Surgery (HSIOIRS) organized the scientific event “Cataract Training Days: The hands-on experience” on 3-5 October at the Xenia Hotel in Volos. As the title suggests, the event consists of hands-on training courses in cataract surgery with the organization of high-level WetLabs, combined with theoretical courses.

Theoretical Course

=> Preoperative examination – Patient consent
=> Biometry – Anesthesia
=> Corneal incisions and sealing
=> Pupil dilation, Floppy iris – Capsulorhexis
=> Types of phacoemulsification machines: Suction pumps: Venturi – Peristaltic
=> Phacoemulsification techniques – Irrigation / Aspiration and Intraocular lens insertion
=> Categories and types of Intraocular lenses
=> Postoperative treatment – ​​Instructions – Complications

Wetlab sessions (2h duration): «Phaco step by step – Basic principles of cataract surgery»

=> incisions
=> capsulorhexis
=> hydroseparation
=> phacoemulsification
=> irrigation / aspiration
=> intraocular lens insertion

CME-CPD ACCREDITATION

The participants of the Meeting were provided with 19 ECMEC’s by the Panhellenic Medical Association.
